I always dreamt of a homebirth, but unfortunately this wasn’t possible and I needed to be induced in the hospital. This is why we started looking for a doula. That’s how I found Nelleke and I am so glad that I did. First of all she responded immediately and we could quickly schedule an online call. She was so warm and understanding about our situation and made us feel so understood. She was super chill and we could talk about birth, but also about other fun stuff, which made everything feel very relaxed. Then Nelleke came to our house twice to prepare for the birth. We discussed my birthplan and she did some exercises with us tailored to our situation. This is how I realized I had very limiting beliefs about giving birth in the hospital and Nelleke helped to change my mindset into a more positive mindset. She also gave the best pregnancy massage (with, o yeah!, a hole in the massage table so I could lay on my belly). Her presence felt so warm, the best way to describe her: she is like your favorite aunt with a lot of knowledge about birth :). My birth itself went so much faster than expected, but luckily Nelleke could still make it. I am so thankful that she was there. She helped me with the right breathing techniques and set up the whole room like I wanted it to. She encouraged me mentally, physically and emotionally and within her presence our beautiful son was born. Nelleke will have such a special place in our heart forever and we will definitely tell our son about her and how she made his birthday extra special!
